A day w/ Dr Pinter

This just might be my BIGGEST BRAG EVER on The Brookster.

I tell ya, i'm such a PROUD Momma right now. All the hard work is paying off!!

We went up to Doernbeckers yesterday to hang at the Down syndrome clinic. Dr Pinter is just the best!!!! I HIGHLY recomend him if your in town.

First stop, the fish tank.

Next, the hearing center. She has never been to fond of the hearing center. Never really cooperated much. This day, she suprized even the Momma.

The tech said "Ok Brook when you hear the sound put the circle on the post"

Bad Momma me thought, Ha, good luck w/ that lady. Hahahaaaa

She did it. Every single time, eight different times. YEAAAAA Brookster. She rocked that out like nobodys buisness. She, as you can see, even let her put the "Princess" headphones on her ears. First time for everything :)

ST was next.

No pic's in the ST room. I had to listen. As you know Brook has NEVER had ST through the ESD system. Fought. Never won. *bitter*.

They said her receptive language is far beyond her years. Getting the words out to strangers is by far her weakest area. We all know that. She did say a few words to the ST, but not many. Sooooooooo, on to the blog we go. LOL. They know I tape everything. Everything! They were VERY impressed. Now, to get her to talk to "teacher people".

They gave us a list of things to work on like teaching her the difference btwn his/her's, he/she, big/little, who is..., what is..., what do you..., how is..., how do you do...., wet/dry, in/out, on something/off something, more/less, which has the most..., etc.

How on Earth do you teach that? Anyone? Anyone?

Then she had to check her file LOL

Then Dr Pinter came in. Brook had to do the fat snowman song LOL

There were five little snowman, fat

Each had a funny hat

Out came the sun

And melted one. Boo hoo hoo said the kids.

He thought that was too cute :) Yep!

Then he brought in the paperwork. Brook is off the charts. Literally. LOL

Brook, the chunkster, is the weight of a 6-7 yr old. 43 lbs.
Brook is as tall as a 4-5 yr old. 39 inches.

Solid. Brick.

Then he gave her an A+ on her homework for the year. The 2-4 yr old chart.

Photobucket

And handed me her homework for this year. The 5-8 yr old chart. (in which she can already do 1/2 of) :) :)_

Proud. OH HELL YA!!! This kid works really hard.

Next stop, OT.

Rocked it! She did things I didn't know she could. Do you see the size of those beads she had to string. *I* could barely see the hole. LOL. She still needs to practice some things but she did really well w/ all they gave her. They know how I work with Brook and even Dr Pinter agreed w/ me that if Brook is soaking in the letters, numbers, colors, etc right now, she can learn to jump later. Who cares!

Agreed!!!!!!!!!

PT followed. Again, she did real well w/ what they gave her. She LOVED this area. SO many cool things. Gave me some good tips to strengthen her trunk but none for the throat. Bumm deal. We'll keep searching.

*She is in her unders b/c they were needed video of her walking. Making sure the Sure Steps are working*

(Have more photos of sliding and climbing the ladder but the therapists were in the pic and I don't know if they wanted to have their pic on The Internet.)

All in all, a super great day. Long day, but sure worth the Pride I feel for my girl.
