Life has been crazy busy around here. First, Social Security. Hub's got approved for his disability. Second, they took away Brooks SSI and changed it to Aux Benifits. Thrid, they decided that now w/ Hub's income coming in, Brook no longer qualifies for Medicade or OHP. No insurance. Great! *total sarcasm there* I can understand this as I could maybe afford some private insurance, but along with the no insurance letter, SEND ME ANYONE, ANYONE WHO WILL INSURE MY KID. SOME PHONE NUMBERS, SIGHTS, SOMETHING!!!!!! Down syndrome, PDA, ASD and Laringotracheamalasia are pre`existing conditions, dontcha' know...GRRRRRR.
What I don't understand about this is even if I quit my job, loose ALOT of income, she still won't qualify for OHP by $200..... And, another thing I don't get is how come she got SSI and Medicade when I was making $700 OVER the OHP limit and $1500 more than the Medicade cut off for a family of three.
I don't understand.
I want to call and not give my name and get to the bottom of this, I reaaaaalllllly do, but I won't, I don't think ;)
Pissed. Me. Off
Whatever.
We will get by. Hey, thats a good song...LOL
So after those lovely phone calls last week I had $20 and a tank full of gas.
ROADTRIP :)

Cruzed up Mt Hood

The Alpine Slide

Went over the mountain to Hood River

Stoped at the marina for some lunch. That is Washington in the background.

See, I told ya she would walk on grass now. Barefoot even :)

Down the Columbia Gorge to Bonneville Dam

This is Herman

The BIGGGGEST piece of petrafied wood i've ever seen

Came home, ate some dinner, went to bed.
Day is done.
Back to work and back to the daily grind.
All three girls were here the other day. They all wanted $.60 to go to the donut shop. Gotta do work to earn some dough (pun intended LOL)

Today, we took Brook to the Oregon State Fair. It was a nice day. Not to hot, but warm. We saw all the animals, walked around, had some lunch. Brook had a great time.

In the Rain forest ;)

On one of Dad's rest stops, Brook and I went over to listen to the man singing. Brook loves dancing. So we sat at the end of a bench with two elderly ladies (70's ?) Brook was in the middle of us.
So of corse, in true Brook fashion w/ everyone (except them pesky teachers LOL) she just says "HI, me Brook". They smiled. Then they were really checking her out. Talking to her then to themselves but I couldn't hear. The music was loud. Brook was signing dance and sing. Having a great time.
The lady closest to Brook reached out and grabed Brooks hand. I usually don't let anyone touch Brooker.... I sat there smiling. The woman looks at me and says" She's an Angel you know". I smiled. I said "thank you so much". A bit later her and her friend got up to leave. As the one lady passed me she put her hand on my shoulder and said "Thank you"..... off she went.
Hmmmmm... thank me? I wonder, for what? Did Brookster just change her perception of Ds or maybe she is one of us. I so wanted to follow her and ask her but I didn't. Now i'm home, perplexed.
Another thing happened as well. We were walking along and i'm hearing a lady yelling "Mam, mam, mam" I kept walking b/c I was sure she wanted someone else. She caught us and said "I have something for your daughter". She holds up a bracelet. Asks to put it on her. Fine. Looks at me and says "God made this one Perfect". Took everything I had not to bawl like a baby. I said "Thank you" of corse.

Strange day at the Oregon State Fair :)

Someday. I will make a bench like this for my backyard. Do you see the fish cutouts? Sooo cute :)
Tomorrow, were off to Doernbeckers to have an Echo and a foot xray. I'll post about that when we get home.
Goodnight friends :)

Sorry to hear you are having a tough time. I surely hope it gets worked out soon.
Brooke is a doll. I am glad to have found you guys.
Your pictures are always so beautiful. I'm jealous.
Complete bummer about the insurance. I feel your pain though -- we pay $1500 per month for health insurance. I'm actually happy when Kayla has to go to the doctor because then I feel like I'm at least using some of it!
But the pictures of your summer outings are too cool! Looks like you guys had some fun!
