To give hope, nothing else

First, I want to address some visitors comments in my inbox. I do not post videos of Brooker to hurt feelings. I post videos of Brook TO GIVE HOPE!!!!! There was along time I waited for some words. They are popping out all over and damnit, i'm super proud of my girl. I want to show others who are, like I was, waiting for that long over due word. Some sort of verbal communication. It WILL come :)

While i'm on the topic of words, Brook is really getting along well at school. She asked the teacher to take her potty, and she went :) She named all the furniture in the doll house while playing w/ Mom at school this morning. Teachers were super impressed. They still hound on me that i'm teaching Brook skills of a 5~6 yr old but I rarely listen to that giberish. They've been saying that bolderdash all her life. We work on all sorts of things everyday around here. They are sending me home homework to work on age appropiate activities. I'll give it a try but I always have to include some colors or ABC's or numbers. Brook loves ABC's and numbers so everything has to include such. She thinks that is playing. Fine w/ this Momma. She doesn't want a doll or whatever, maybe her trucks, but nothing to boring. She's silly :) We'll work it out.

Today at school they made cookies. Teacher just loves having a full kitchen in the new classroom. They rolled out the dough, made gingerbread men, baked them, and frosted them w/ lovely blue frosting. Brooker was quite proud of herself for sure. They took pics so as soon as teacher emails me, i'll share.

Tomorrow will be a long day of Hub's hospital visit. He hasn't been to primary in a few so this is much needed. Brook loves it there too. Hopefully they will have ice cream in the lobby. I love the VA ;)

I've been over working on the house. Picking paint colors is for the birds. Only a few more things to do. I HAD to clean the bathroom ASAP. I did that late last night. Having mulitiple men wandering through for the past six months, is.not.pretty. HAHAHA All clean now so Brooker and I can actually sit down to "go". Men, uggg.

Now, this is my public service announcement for the week. Watch till the end. LOL

Good birth control video.

Having a "high functioning" child with DS does bring some of it's own problems. It's hard to have 4 or so children with DS in the room close in age, and mine is the only one potty trained. But yet, she's no where near "normal" children. Fitting in can be a challenge. I'll ask for ideas on how to make her behave in swimming lessons or dance class, and no one else is facing those challenges because they can't do those kinds of things----yet.

Desi had no words until 3 1/2. We signed. And one of her sitters taught her the abcs in sign. She knows more abcs that some of the "normal" kindergärtners, because we WORK at it repetitively.

Every child learns at their own pace, and no where is it more evident that the DS community.

Love your blog. You are much more into the DS part of your life than I am. It's been fun to read on your site. Brenda
