Indeed, the sun has decided that we have suffered enough. A month and a half of rain and now it's been 82* for two days.
Can you taste the humidity? Not funny LOL
Mary's surgery went fine. She is actually up and feeling fine after three days of sleeping and pain med's. She is such a trooper. The night before she just kept saying, "Mom I can live w/ a big hole in my jaw forever ya know. I really don't need to do this dumb surgery again do I?"
Sorry Mary girl, you do.
Pretty uneventful really, untill..... Up at 3 am, drive time and surgery at 7 am b/c the doc was late. For some reason.......
Reason....... he was trying to figure out what to do. Come to find out, what they thought this entire two and a half years, was wrong. Yes it is some sort of bone cist. What kind? They don't know. Why is it hollow? Who knows. Why did it return after being healed? Who knows. Why is it presenting the way it is? Don't know that either.
They know nothing!! No one has ever seen such a thing. At least no one in Washington, Oregon, Cali or Idaho has seen such a thing. Her Dad and I had to sign a bunch of concent forms so they could document this "thing" in Mary's jaw and hold a conference soon. They took pictures, documented every little thing, and sent out mass emails throughout the surgery.
Finally, three hours later, after Momma got yelled at for freeking out, my girl came into recovery. I wanted anwsers and I wanted them NOW. Where was my girl and why this time around was it taking so long.
They decided to treat this the best they knew how and Pray that this time it heals up and never comes back. If it doesn't were talking bone graf's and cutting chunks of bone from other places and make her a new jaw bone.
Insert freeeeeking out Momma here!
The big conference will be held the week of July 4th. Every big wig maxilary surgeon will be flying in to help figure out what this is. If they can't figure it out, it will need to be named. Mary's case has already been entered in the Maxilary Surgeons Medical Journal and shared all around the world.(as soon as I get a copy i'll share :) ) It could be this that the other but this that the other don't look like or act like this that the other.
**This that the other are BIG DOCTOR WORDS I just can't remember LOL.**
Doctor came in and said Mary is a fa-nom-in-non. (how do you spell that anyway Hahaha) Can't find a case study anywhere. Thats why we had to sign concent forms b/c she is a minor and her pictures will need to be shared w/ everyone.
I don't care who see's her jaw bone. JUST FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
So untill we/they figure out what this is.. we wait. Pray that what they did fixes this "thing". There is to be no sports, no ruff housing, and Pray she doesn't get bonked in the face. Her jaw will shatter. Did I mention the doc almost broke it on accident b/c it is so thin. Nice huh? NOT!!!
My Mary girl. What a fa-nom-in-non ;)
In other news, Brook is feeling much better. We went in on Friday for a check-up and her lungs sounded clear. She still has a nasty cough so Dr Tami gave her a new puffer.
What a roller coaster ride this last week has been. Thank you Mother Nature for the sunshine. I needed that {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

I'll be praying for you and your little girl. It must be so hard not to know why things are happening to her bone and jaw! My sister had a tumor in her jaw bone while she was in college - when they removed it, they reconstructed her jaw bone after taking a graft from her hip. She healed wonderfully and her jaw works perfectly. Her maxilofacial surgeon was at UNC and was fantastic. I know it's scary, but will be praying that you will have swift answers and continued healing!
Ps - My sister's surgeon was Dr. Turvey, head of maxilofacial surgery at UNC. He was excellent, compassionate (and very cute!)
